All though it lacks some of its FL studios features? (i.e attachable and detachable panels) it does support VST plugins and the interface is very easy to use once you get used it, all in all, it's a great DAW, anyone who says it's bad ethier has bias or not enough experience with the program

Ardour is not "simply a recorder", it's a fully featured DAW, and while Ardour's general layout differs from FL's layout, it can be used to a full extent as a multi-purpose workstation in addition to audio recording, be it MIDI editing or electronic music.

Qtractor is a full fledged DAW for Linux. Unlike FL, it is not available for Windows or Mac. It also lacks the graphic refinement of FL as well as the powerful suite of bundled tools. While it's an alternative, it's not one of the closest.

MusE might lack the sophisticated visuals and native modules of FL but it's still an adept and well developed DAW. It's totally free and open source, though it's only for Linux. It supports LV2 and DSSI plugins as well as VST.
