FastCopy
FastCopy is a Copy/Backup Software on Windows.
What is FastCopy?
FastCopy is the fastest copy, delete, & sync software on Windows. It uses modern checksum verification to ensure copy accuracy and data integrity. It handles long Unicode path names over MAX_PATH (260 bytes), and automatically optimizes copy mode operations between the same storage device, or different storage devices.
In Diff HDD mode, reading and writing are multithreaded in parallel. Same HDD mode uses a larger read buffer so write operations will not cause slow disk thrashing. Because FastCopy doesn't use the OS cache, other applications and processes remain fast, and speed approaches the limit of the storage device. High performance is obtained from using the Win32 API instead of MFC.
FastCopy has an Include/Exclude filter that allows you to customize large file operations, and it has a job manager. FastCopy can automatically run only one operation at a time, to avoid disk thrash, and achieve the highest possible speed. FastCopy is freeware.

Great simple and helpful program. I love the way the Icon spins around letting me know when it's doing work or quiet. Use this with a Ramdisk like the one you can make with ImDisk Toolkit, and it's sort of like walking on water.
looks really fine. was looking for an open-source, scriptable alternative - windows 32/64 Oses - to supercopier2 (quite good but not scriptable). Does the job efficiently and quietly. it's quick. it's portable, non-invasive if you want (644Ko). command switches documentation provided as chm in english and japanese. time saver app. if you're here there's a reason have a try ;) 5 stars so far.

I gave FastCopy 3.80 a try but cancelled during the operation. I was copying 41 Gb of files from a laptop to an almost empty WD Elements external drive. Said drive is only a few months old and has never shown a problem. The copying was being performed at almost double the speed of the normal Windows copying process according to FastCopy. Unfortunately, within a few minutes, a clicking noise was coming from the external drive so I quickly cancelled the job, uninstalled FastCopy and re-booted. Subsequent copy jobs using Windows Copy function have been fine, with no clicking noise from extHDD. According to Hard Disk Sentinel Pro 5.30 the extHDD is okay and did not exceed 33 degrees Celsius while FastCopy was running. A clicking extHDD is worrisome. Has anyone else had a similar experience while using FastCopy?
Using for years with external hard disks, never had a problem.

My guess is that the acoustics management of your hard drive keeps the seeks silent when copying data slowly. As you noticed, FastCopy sends data much faster to the drive, which is exactly what it is supposed to do. A 1-star rating because your HDD is making noises when put to work is inappropriate.

Your hardware malfunctions is irrelevant with the Software.
It's because your Hard Disks are failing, FastCopy can't be held responsible for this, it's just a copy software !
Guess what, it's funny we are talking about WD Elements because that's exactly what i'm using right now and it's working very fine.

I like very much this application and i've made a Donation to the Author. It's a perfect alternative of SuperCopier and TeraCopy, but it's Free, very lightweight, i can copy Teras of datas without Slowing down.
More importantly it's the lightweight, as i copy Teras of Datas, it's most important i can still work, play games or anything else without slowing down.
However the Transfer are fast, i copied Datas between SSD and it was incredibly Fast, even Windows can't do it.
It's English or Japanese only but very easy to use. The only thing i could say, is the interface is a bit classic, thinking to Windows 95 but it works so well :)
Contextual Menus are working too. Right Click, Copy ; Right Click Paste and here you go. You can setup also to avoid interferences with tradionnal copy/paste of Windows which i did.
It is not longer opensource, according to authors site: "(Due to various circumstances, distribution of the source code is temporarily suspended ... Please use FastCopy as freeware with no guarantee)"
It's fast. Also, many useful features like the ability to save recurring tasks and access them via CLI switches (shortcuts!), smart queuing when starting multiple jobs affecting one disk and skipping older files already present.
I use this as a secondary copy tool to TeraCopy. I use TeraCopy as a replacement for the native copy tool for Windows, while this acts as the tool I go to when I want to copy a really large amount of files in size, since it seems to be the best and fastest tool all around. Still sadly it can't replace TeraCopy for daily use to me, mostly die to it's lest sleek and user friendly UI.
In short, this is my heavy duty copier =D
