    I think gthumb hits the sweet spot between lightweight/minimalist and feature-rich. Basic image editing, perfectly fine photo viewer, you can check metadata, no ads, slideshow, find duplicates, ...

    Basically everything you expect from a modern image viewer, but not too bloated. EOG offers way too few features in comparison.
