Comments about Permanent Eraser as an Alternative to Darik's Boot and Nuke
Doesn't Wipe Drives Securely and requires an installed OS. DBAN is OS independent boot utility, and thus its name.
It deletes any file including ones from the trash. Even files that the OS is identifying as in use (when they are not) are wiped entirely with this software. The only reason I refrained from voting it as the best DBan alternative is that I don't know how it will behave with extremely large files, example, a full external Terabyte sized hard drive.
Some users think Permanent Eraser is a great Darik's Boot and Nuke alternative, some don't.
