Said about File Shredder as an alternative
I've tested it on every kind of medium on which it is usable and used many different "unerasers" or "undeleters" and...absolutely nothing left - not even God will know the contents of that old and Fire Shreddered file, ever!
the program is really simple to use it has many features and doesn't slow your pc (even though the others doesn't slow 2 but maybe there is one that does i don't know about)
file shredder does what it should do!

File Shredder is a good eraser application.
The downside is that it does not "shred" the directory table entry after you have shredded a file. This means that directory names, but not files, are recoverable. (see here for further details: http://blog.wisefaq.com/2010/09/14/file-shredder-well-fails/ )
File names are recoverable too. It appears Recuva also leaves file names intact. I guess I'll have to look at Eraser again.
