HDShredder Free

HDShredder Free Edition is a free data erasure tool for private users who need to securely wipe hard drives and other storage media. Unlike conventional file deletion or formatting, HDShredder erases data at the physical level and works independently of the partition layout, file system, and operating system. It can also handle storage media using proprietary formats that may otherwise be inaccessible.

The Free Edition supports complete drive deletion and provides a straightforward way to erase storage media before disposal, recycling, or resale. It supports HDDs, SSDs and other mass-storage devices through common interfaces such as SATA, USB, SCSI and FireWire, as well as UEFI/GPT systems. The current Free Edition offers secure high-speed deletion with performance of up to 6 GB/min, depending on the hardware used.

HDShredder can run under Windows and includes a self-booting version, allowing drives to be erased without relying on the operating system installed on the target drive. The Free Edition can also be used to check whether a particular PC and its storage devices are supported.
