It's Open Source and has the closest feature set compared to Confluence. It also has additional features such as structured wiki pages. There is also a migration toolkit.

I like XWiki as an alternative to Confluence as it comes with tools allowing a seamless migration from one to another. It also has similar macros and the same extension mechanism as Confluence, which allows to not loose features when migrating.
