Blue Mars has not gone under.
The webpage has undergone a major update and the developer has maintained the ClipX server for many years.

Yes ... ClipX is not new, nor is the developer interested in adding bells and whistles to ClipX because it fills a niche in clipboard extenders. There are plenty of more complex Clipboard-extender programs available.
ClipX is available in portable and installer editions ... 32-bit or 64-bit versions.

ClipX is simple ... 2 lists on the one menu

  1. a dynamic list of clipboard items (upto 1024 items, optional count in settings)
  2. a stickies-templates (permanent) list with the simple installation of the "Stickies" plugin (also 1024 items).

Customizable short-cut keys to open the pick-list.
Paste by clicking the list items ... OR typing the item ID
. . . 1 to 9 for the recent list
. . . A to Z for sticky-template
Text only, keeps ClipX light and immediately responsive.
Optional to include image files (JPG,PNG etc)

I am using ClipX on 3-machines ... 2x Win-7 PRO 64-bit and 1x Win-XP 32-bit machines, very stable, no problems in 13 years.

Update 6-Jan-2001
KDE download available from the developer.
ClipX Homepage continues to offer portable and installer editions, 32-bit and 64-bit downloads.
and particularly the "Stickies" plugin.

Personally I use ClipX for busy copy-pasting.
And ClipAngel for its bordered preview pane, for images, text clips, formatted-text clips.

A no-frills clipboard manager.

I've been using this for many years. I've tried several in the past, but they often have way more than I need. All I require is a large history, and it does exactly that. I use 100, but you can set it anywhere from 4-1024.

I use 'ClipX 1.0.3.9 beta 7 x64 (Jul. 6th, 2008)' without any issues. I've used it over the many years on Win 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11 without issue.

It is probably the Lightest on resources too out of the popular (maybe all) alternatives.

NOT DEAD !
Just your assumption. The web site is still maintained by the developer. If Clipx was abandoned, without a home page I would call that "abandoned". But it isn't.
I have not struck any bugs in my 14 years of using ClipX

I am running ClipX on 9 machines in a commercial environment. ClipX also has 7 plugins of which I use ClipX Stickies Plugin 1.9 x64 ... stickies are loaded before ClipX.exe is run I have written a script that runs at boot to update the first 3 stickie items with 3 different date formats for "today" and then runs ClipX.exe
Stickies are normally edited manually via the "Configeration" window, but I only go there a few times in a year.
Ctl+Insert is my hot key of choice to display the ClipX history list.
ClipX can be configured to hold 1024 clips ( plus 1024 stickies which IMO is absurd)

ClipX (IMO) is the lightest clipboard extender, and the user does not have to be a brain surgeon to use it.

It appears that the company behind this (Blue Mars) has gone under. Currently searching for the best alternative as there are some bugs with ClipX on 64-bit Windows Vista or 7 that were not ironed out prior to the death blow.

I agree, it's a pity! Best tools of this kind are CLCL and ClipX but both have been discontinued and still have some little glitches... All other clipboard managers out there are bloated software IMHO and are usually slow to use (they open a window and you have to select the clip etc....) compared to a simple & fast (pop-up) menu!

A new project is born though: http://code.google.com/p/intraclip/
