To be fair, the current version of macOS 26 now includes a charge limiter setting, making this app moot for most people. However, I think it still has its place for people who want to take good care of their battery so their MacBook lasts a long time. With Al Dente, you can set a very specific charge limit (like 70%, if you keep it plugged in all the time) and keep it from charging unnecessarily when it gets within 10% of your target. I also like how it slows or stops charging whenever your...

However, I think it still has its place for people who want to take good care of their battery so their MacBook lasts a long time. With Al Dente, you can set a very specific charge limit (like 70%, if you keep it plugged in all the time) and keep it from charging unnecessarily when it gets within 10% of your target. I also like how it slows or stops charging whenever your battery gets too hot. I get that for some people this might be overkill, especially at the price of the pro version, but for me it's 100% worth it.

What is AlDente?

Li-ion and polymer batteries (like the one in your MacBook) last the longest when operating between 30% and 80% percent. Keeping your battery at 100% at all times can shorten the lifespan of your notebook significantly. This tool may extend the lifespan of your notebook's battery by lowering the maximum battery percentage = 80% ensuring that your battery is never overcooked but rather kept fresh & chewy at AlDente.
