Apple officially releases iOS 27 with the new Siri AI and expanded Apple Intelligence
After previewing its next generation in June, Apple has now officially released iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27. The main addition is the long-awaited new Siri AI, a new version of Siri with personal context, onscreen awareness, web access, broader app actions, and more conversational responses. It can dig and use your personal information from messages, emails, and photos, while new Camera and Visual Intelligence features let users ask about what is on screen or in front of them. There's also a new fully dedicated app for it with conversation history that syncs across Apple devices through iCloud.
Apple Intelligence also expands across Photos, adding new AI editing tools like Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an upgraded Clean Up tool. Safari can organize tabs, track website changes such as price drops or restocks, and create custom extensions from natural language prompts. Apple is also introducing stronger parental controls, including app access settings, Ask to Browse approvals, contact permissions, expanded Communication Safety, and a redesigned Screen Time with daily limits and schedules.
The releases also bring broader performance and platform improvements. Apple says app launches on iPhone and iPad are up to 30% faster, AirDrop transfers up to 80% faster, and external file transfers on iPad up to five times faster. Other additions include improved search, a Liquid Glass slider, full resolution iCloud Shared Albums, menopause support in Health, custom EQ for AirPods, improved Maps Flyover, new Apple Watch widgets and gestures, Vision Pro spatial environments, and lossless Apple Music on Apple TV.
Siri AI is initially available in beta only in English, with more languages coming in October, but will not yet be available on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch in the EU due to regulatory requirements, or in China at launch.
