Comments and Reviews

Comment summary: Spark Mail receives mixed feedback. Users appreciate its synchronization across devices, sleek design, and effective organizational features, helping control inboxes. However, concerns exist regarding its privacy policies, such as storing account credentials and emails remotely. Some users find the lack of customizability in text size or icon settings limiting, and certain features are limited to the premium version. The app's functionality may not align with every user's expectations or needs.

Good:

  • Apps on all platforms work very well
  • Cross platform sync
  • Fastest login from any email app
  • Send later option with drafts
  • Email arrival delays up to 1 minute long and no more as long as you have an internet connection. Bad:
  • Privacy concerns with stored emails
  • Security concerns with the login option that stores account passwords on their servers

Yes, they do. It's why I don't use them. Source: https://sparkmailapp.com/privacy Accounts are added to Spark through OAuth where possible. Where OAuth is not supported we keep your account username and password on our secure servers. We then use the authorization provided to download your emails to our virtual servers and push to your device. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure to store your data. Apart from the AWS' security policies we take a number of measures to ensure that your data is never read by anyone else. We ensure that all transmission is secured with HTTPS so that no one else can access your data. Your account credentials are stored on secure cloud-based servers using asymmetric encryption.

You can't use this app if you live in Russia.

Spark Mail has a beautiful and functional interface for managing a lot of email accounts in one place. But there are some challenges with this.

Things that I like

  • Cross platform for a consistent approach on your desktop and mobile devices
  • Easy login for email services
  • Colour-coding email sources
  • Snooze emails
  • Reminders
  • Command centre on the desktop app for email actions
  • Ability to search in all or a selected mailbox

Things I don't like

  • Limited support for calendars - works for Google Calendar, iCloud and Exchange, but not Outlook.com (could be Microsoft's fault, dunno)
  • Privacy concerns with storage of emails in AWS
  • My firewall reports unfamiliar URLs, so some level of tracking is taking place. I've since changed my security tools and not seeing this anymore, but am still cautious. It could be related to the AI tools, but that is not available for free users.
  • Smart Search doesn't feel so elegant and some searches returns no results when they should.

I understand there are some concerns with how credentials are stored but, as pointed out by Seth in an earlier comment, this applies to services not using OAuth per ~reddit's~ Readdle's privacy policy.

Must say Spark has finally gotten my inbox under control. Loads of good features to organize stuff.

Super modern appearance and no features. There is no simple option to create rules. A waste of time

10+ apps to start the year off on the right foot

Resolutions can be really wonderful, but more often than not they are set in the first week of January, followed for approximately 27 minutes and 36 seconds, then promptly forgotten forever more. Break the habit, learn to be more productive, and start 2019 off with a bang that really lasts. 🚀

What is Spark Mail?

Smart Inbox automatically detects if an email is personal, a notification or a newsletter and groups it with similar emails for easy batch processing using beloved swipes. With just a glance, you can see if emails are important or just a product announcement from a service you've never used.

We all love the feeling of accomplishment when we have finally dealt with our inbox. Spark makes this easy to achieve. Quickly process your emails, swiping to archive or delete as necessary. Pin emails which relate to things you need to do today, or quickly swipe left to archive those you've already dealt with. If you can't finish a task today, swipe to snooze for tomorrow or another day (if you're really busy).

A few more reasons to love Spark:

UNIFIED INBOX See all of your important email at a glance, with a unified inbox which knows the difference between a personal email, a notification and a newsletter.

SMART SEARCH Use natural language to search through your emails. Type "attachments from Alex last week" to see all the emails sent to you last week by Alex with an attachment.

SIGNATURES Spark will automatically find your most used signatures. So you can quickly swipe between them when composing an email, to choose the one that's best suited.

QUICK REPLIES Let your friends and colleagues quickly know what you thought about their email with one tap to send a "Like", "Thanks" or any other custom reply.

SMART NOTIFICATIONS Enable Smart Notifications to only be disturbed by emails you care about.

SAVE ATTACHMENTS Save attachments to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Readability, Pocket, Evernote, OneNote or any application on your iPhone and iPad.
