Spark Mail adds Mac CLI to give AI agents access to emails with model choice and AI skills

Spark, the widely used email client, has introduced Spark CLI: a command-line interface that allows AI agents to access email, calendar events, contacts, and meeting notes directly from Spark desktop’s local data storage. This unlocks AI-powered workflows across every major email provider supported by Spark, including Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo, as well as any IMAP or Exchange Web Services accounts. Permissions for each connected account can be set through Spark’s settings to fit personal or business needs.

Building on its model-agnostic design, Spark CLI lets users direct email data to the AI agent or large language model of their choice. This includes hosted options like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, or local models accessed through platforms such as Ollama and LM Studio. Integrations with popular tools, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, OpenClaw, and Google Antigravity, aim to minimize setup friction for both developers and automation specialists.

While working with agents, users can ask general questions without carefully crafted prompts, as Spark CLI routes queries efficiently. Semantic search, powered by Spark’s AI Assistant, brings deeper context access but is limited by plan tier, while all users retain unlimited raw keyword searching. Two distinct permission levels, Read for view-only access and Triage for interactive processing, help manage agent capabilities and safety. Additionally, a built-in library of skills offers ready-made, customizable templates for surfacing, summarizing, and acting on inbox content.
