X launches Live Studio, a new live-streaming tool to rival YouTube and Twitch
X has introduced Live Studio, a livestreaming tool for creators that replaces Media Studio Producer. Announced by X head of product Nikita Bier, the feature is part of the platform’s push to compete more directly with livestreaming services like YouTube and Twitch.
Live Studio works as a new command center for streamers, with support for RTMP so creators can connect external encoders, cameras, and production software. It also lets users go live instantly, schedule streams, run private test broadcasts, manage audience and chat settings, restrict chat to subscribers, and track real-time performance with post-stream analytics.
Access is handled through X’s Creator Studio, which requires a Premium subscription starting at $3 per month. For now, Live Studio is limited to select U.S. states, including Virginia, Oregon, and California, as well as cities such as Sydney, Seoul, Mumbai, Singapore, Paris, São Paulo, Frankfurt, Dublin, and Tokyo. X is also setting aside $1 million for creators who livestream, though details on how payouts will work are still pending.
