Meta rolls out new paid subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp

Meta is launching a new set of paid subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp worldwide, adding new monthly plans under its Plus branding. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus will cost $2.99 per month. The plans add paid features to apps that have historically been mainly ad supported.

Instagram Plus includes profile customization and expanded Stories tools, such as aggregate rewatch data, unlimited audience lists, extended Story visibility, weekly Story spotlighting, anonymous Story previews, searchable viewer lists, more profile pins, Super Heart reactions, custom app icons, and editable bio fonts. It also lets users post directly to their profile or highlights without appearing in followers’ feeds. Facebook Plus offers a similar set of features focused on social expression and engagement, while WhatsApp Plus focuses on messaging personalization with custom themes, ringtones, additional pinned chats, chat list customization, and premium stickers.

Meta is also testing Meta One, a broader subscription hub for AI, creators, and businesses. Its AI plans include Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month, with the higher tier offering more capacity for compute heavy tasks. Creator and business plans will start at $14.99 per month for verification and profile tools, with a $49.99 per month tier adding analytics, discovery features, scheduling tools, and options designed to increase visibility across Facebook and Instagram.

Anyway, how long do you think it will take before Meta makes you pay to skip ads in the middle of Reels? 🤫
