WhatsApp launches an Events hub with shareable invites, even for people without an account

WhatsApp is expanding its Events feature with a fully dedicated Events hub in the app’s Settings menu, allowing users to create invitations, manage RSVPs, and view past and upcoming events in one place. One of the biggest changes is the ability to invite people who don’t have a WhatsApp account, so guests can open invitation links, view event details, and RSVP without downloading the app or signing up for the platform.

Event organizers can now add custom cover photos, share invitations through links sent by text or email, or generate QR codes. The update also introduces custom reminders and an option for guests to bring a plus-one. WhatsApp hides phone numbers from unfamiliar guests, while people without an account can only see an event’s address after submitting their RSVP.

WhatsApp previously supported event creation in group chats and one-on-one conversations, but the new hub brings event management into a dedicated section accessible outside individual chats. The expanded Events feature is rolling out to all users over the next few weeks, although some users already have access (including me yayy).

Congrats on getting access to the new feature! I think WhatsApp should have introduced this a long time ago. Having to rely on individual chats to manage events, especially when some guests don't even use WhatsApp, was unnecessarily inconvenient. Being able to share invitations with anyone is such a simple and obvious improvement. Better late than never!
