Deezer will introduce an AI music filter toggle to let users block AI-generated tracks

Streaming platform Deezer has announced that it will give subscribers the ability to completely filter out AI-generated music from their listening experience, marking the latest evolution in the company's efforts to address the rapid proliferation of synthetic content on music platforms. Building on its 2025 initiative that made it the first streaming service to detect, tag and exclude AI-generated tracks from algorithmic and editorial recommendations, Deezer will now roll out a simple on/off toggle button before the end of the year that allows users to remove fully AI-generated content from search results entirely. Since January 2025, the company says it has blocked more than 42 million AI-generated tracks from recommendations and tagged over 14 million albums.

The move comes as the broader music industry grapples with questions around artificial intelligence and creator protection. A recent study conducted by CISAC and PMP Strategy, with participation from key industry players including Deezer, warns that nearly 25% of creators' revenues could be at risk by 2028, a potential loss of up to €4 billion globally. User sentiment appears to align with industry concerns: Deezer's survey found that 73% of streaming users want transparency about whether they're consuming AI-generated music, while 52% believe such content should not compete with human-made songs in main charts. CEO Alexis Lanternier emphasized the company's commitment to “shaping a future based on transparency and choice, with respect for artists, songwriters and music fans”, framing the toggle as a response to clear user demand for greater control over their music discovery experience.

When will they add a feature to NOT block AI music / keep recommending AI music? Enforcing choices like this to users is not good.

Hmm, pretty sure they are doing just that. If you had actually read and comprehended the article, they give the user a choice. If you really want to hear AI generated slop, leave the toggle they provide off. Nothing like crying bloody murder over a non-issue.

@guck_foogle the audacity to say this when the article explicitly says the toggle is just for excluding AI tracks from search results, and all AI tracks are already excluded from recommendations, plus the feature to give users the possibility of still having AI tracks recommended is left unanswered from deezer's user opinion websites for a long time. Your opinions are not the ones of other either, don't tell me what to say, feel or think. Lastly, this is an article recap, commenting doesn't require reading the original articles.

If you're going to act like a moron, at least get things right. With all due respect.

@very_unfortunate Resorting to name calling. Nice. I have some I could call you, but I won't. Anyhow, my opinion is just as valid as your or anyone else's. If you don't like it, that's not my problem. BTW, it's very obvious that the majority (yes, including myself) in fact do not like AI slop shoved down their throats. Sorry if you don't agree and / or can't accept that. Have a nice day.
