Winamp partners with Deezer to launch hybrid streaming service in 2027
Winamp has announced a partnership with music streaming platform Deezer to power its upcoming premium music subscription service. Deezer will provide its white-label streaming technology and global music catalogue, allowing Winamp to launch a subscription offering fully integrated into the new Winamp player and delivered as a native experience under the Winamp brand.
Looking ahead, the new Winamp player is scheduled for release in the first semester of 2027. Following the strategic partnership, the platform’s premium streaming service and Deezer's catalogue will be directly accessible within Winamp, merging streaming content with the classic player’s functionality.
Unlike traditional digital streaming platforms, the updated Winamp will combine premium streaming with users’ local music libraries, access to internet radio stations, podcasts, personal cloud collections, and other audio sources. These backend changes enable the introduction of a highly customizable user interface, new social features, and innovative tools for music discovery and organization.
Winamp has emphasized that its new subscription and player will depart from conventional streaming models by reimagining the listening experience and offering an unconventional approach to music subscriptions.
