Google Vids adds DeepMind Veo 2 video generation with new editing tools
Google Vids has rolled out custom generative video clip creation powered by DeepMind’s Veo 2 artificial intelligence model. Veo 2 delivers realistic videos with advanced physics, camera control and fidelity, outperforming alternatives like OpenAI’s Sora in quality, realism and supported duration
To access this feature, users click the “Generate video” icon in the editor’s right sidebar. Creation requires entering a prompt in English, previewing the AI-generated result, and inserting it into the video project. While leveraging high-end generative AI, Google caps output in Vids to 720p resolution, 24 frames per second, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and eight seconds in length. All generative functions function exclusively in English and are only accessible via desktop web browsers.
The upgrade is free for users on supported Google Workspace plans, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise tiers, Essentials variants, and Gemini Education. Business Starter, Enterprise Starter, and Nonprofit plans have temporary access until at least May 31, 2026. The feature is rolling out over 14 days to Rapid and Scheduled Release domains.
