Slack debuts AI-powered Slackbot and Enterprise Search with Salesforce AI agents

Slack has launched a major update that transforms its platform into what Salesforce calls an Agentic OS, a conversational AI workspace where intelligent agents collaborate with teams in real time. The update is led by a redesigned AI-powered Slackbot, now visible as an icon beside the search bar. It acts as a personal assistant that helps plan tasks, schedule meetings, find files, and summarize key information. Users can type natural language prompts like “What are my priorities for today?” and receive contextual responses drawn from messages, files, and workspace data, allowing Slackbot to assist with complex workflows such as organizing launches or creating campaigns.

Alongside this, the new Enterprise Search lets users query company knowledge in natural language, retrieving results from Slack and connected apps like Google Workspace, Outlook.com, Dropbox, and Notion. Salesforce also introduced Agentforce 360, embedding Salesforce AI agents directly into Slack so teams can access CRM data and request insights or actions in chat. The new Channel Expert agent adds real time expertise within conversations, surfacing answers from shared knowledge or involving teammates when needed.

All AI functions run within Amazon Web Services virtual private cloud to keep company data secure. To enable external developers to build more powerful context-aware agents,Salesforce is also opening Slack’s ecosystem via new connectors and a Real-Time Search API and a Model Context Protocol server, with companies such as Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic already creating AI agents that work collaboratively within the platform.

Salesforce Agent is this intelligent chatbot that was supposed to help companies being more productive. It is the worse functionality in Salesforce's history, users are endlessly complaining about this being irrelevant, counter-productive, when not annoying. The best part: it costs users $2.5 a prompt. And doesn't always work. Salesforce has invested so much into it that the only way to try to salvage it is to push it to as many users as possible. Yes, enshittification has affected AI faster than any other technology.
