Nextcloud Hub 9 launches with advanced federation, AI tools, and automation features
Nextcloud has launched Nextcloud Hub 9, focusing on decentralization by allowing the platform to operate across various environments such as home, business, and government settings. This new release introduces advanced federation features, enabling seamless communication for chats and video calls across different Nextcloud servers. The platform also features a refined design with a compact layout, rounded corners, and a dynamic background that adapts to light or dark themes.
The update includes a Windmill-based app for process automation, facilitating tasks like payment processing and PDF generation. Nextcloud Whiteboard, a new collaborative tool whithin Hub 9 for sketching and planning, is integrated with Nextcloud Talk for live workshops and meetings. AI enhancements feature a chat mode for the Nextcloud Assistant for tasks like summarizing the day, answering questions, and proofreading, with all processing done locally for privacy, AI translations for hundreds of languages, and AI-powered follow-up reminders and phishing detection.
Nextcloud Files introduces new navigation features like file request, file filters, and tree view. Nextcloud Office now supports PDF templates, forms, and 3D transitions in presentations, along with enhanced security and interoperability. Nextcloud Talk sees improved moderation features, offline browsing on mobile, and support for Apple Vision Pro. Nextcloud Groupware enhances Mail, Calendar, and Contacts apps with smart follow-up reminders and advanced search filters. Security has been bolstered with tools like PIN code for passwordless authentication and flexible admin rights delegation. The release also includes new integrations, supporting Meta Llama, XWiki, Dovecot, Stalwart Mail Server, and Mailvelope.
