Google integrates Gemini AI into Workspace Suite and introduces new Gemini 1.5 models

Google is set to integrate its Google Gemini AI chatbot into its Google Workspace productivity suite for Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans starting in Q4 2024. This move eliminates the need for customers to purchase a separate Gemini add-on, as the AI service will now be included by default. The integration adheres to enterprise security terms, ensuring data privacy and customizable storage limits for generated responses and prompts. The AI service has also achieved SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27701 certifications, underscoring its commitment to high security and privacy standards.

In addition, Google is rolling out a "Security Advisor" tool to provide IT administrators with insights on threats such as malware and phishing across Google Chrome, Gmail, and Google Drive. This tool will be available to Workspace customers in the coming weeks.

The company has also updated its Gemini 1.5 models, introducing Gemini-1.5-Pro-002 and Gemini-1.5-Flash-002, offering minor improvements over previous versions. Benchmark tests indicate significant performance enhancements, including a ~7% improvement in MMLU-Pro, ~20% in MATH and HiddenMath, and ~2-7% in vision and code benchmarks. From October 1, 2024, API prices for input, output, and cached tokens are significantly reduced. Rate limits for paid API tiers have increased, enabling more complex AI applications. Developers will experience faster output and lower latency. Additionally, the experimental model "Gemini-1.5-Flash-8B-Exp-0924" is now available for large enterprises and Google Cloud customers.
