Apple to release macOS 15.0 Sequoia in mid-September with advanced writing tools
Apple has announced that macOS Sequoia will be available to all users on September 16, 2024. Initially introduced at WWDC24 in June, macOS Sequoia introduces several new features, including window tiling and iPhone Mirroring. However, Apple Intelligence features will be delayed until macOS Sequoia 15.1, which is expected in October 2024.
Among the new features, Sequoia introduces the iPhone Mirroring tool, which allow users to control their iPhone from their Mac wirelessly, even if the phone is locked and distant (similar to Phone Link for Android on Windows), a window tiling feature that lets users snap windows into tiles (similar to Rectangle), and a new Highlights feature in Safari for quick access to directions and summaries, along with an enhanced Reader view that includes a summary and table of contents for easier navigation of articles.
Additional updates include Game Porting Toolkit 2, making it easier to port games to Mac, iPhone, and iPad, while video conferencing now offers Presenter Preview and background replacement. A new dedicated "Passwords" app for password and 2FA code management, and the Messages app adds text effects, emoji, sticker Tapbacks, and scheduled texts. The Apple Photos app introduces a "Collections" feature, and Apple Calendar integrates with Apple Reminders for streamlined task management. Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools, type to Siri, and ChatGPT support will be available later in 2024.
