Google Meet's new AI tool summarizes meetings into Google Docs for select Workspace users
As announced a couple of weeks ago, Google Meet is launching "take notes for me," an AI-powered feature designed to automatically summarize meeting discussions into a Google Docs. Currently available to select Google Workspace customers—specifically those with Google Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons—the feature provides a concise summary of key points rather than a full transcription.
Supporting only spoken English for now, the tool saves the generated notes in a Google Doc attached to the relevant calendar event, simplifying future reference. Both the meeting organizer and participants who enabled the feature will receive the summarized notes via email. Latecomers benefit from a summary of missed discussions, eliminating the need for repetition.
When used alongside Google Meet’s recording and transcription tools, links to these files are included in the same Google Doc. Google aims to complete the rollout to all eligible Workspace customers by September 10th, 2024.
