Apple Intelligence is now available with the Developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS & macOS
Apple has rolled out the first developer betas of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, introducing early versions of its Apple Intelligence suite. Developers must join the Apple Intelligence waitlist and get access within hours enabling Apple Intelligence in the Settings app on eligible devices.
The suite offers tools for rewriting, spellchecking, grammar checking, and summarizing text in apps such as Messages, Notes, Apple Mail, and Pages. Siri has received an update with a new design, glowing screen edges upon activation, and the ability to switch between voice commands and typing. The assistant can now maintain context between requests, using Apple's product knowledge and support database for more comprehensive assistance.
The Mail app has been upgraded to support message summaries and Smart Reply, a feature also available in the Messages app. A new Reduce Interruptions Focus mode filters out non-urgent notifications while highlighting important ones. Apple Photos have been enhanced to support Memories creation and natural language search, including video segments. Future features like Image Playground, Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, object erasing in Photos, and Priority Notifications are not yet available. Apple Intelligence remains in the developer beta stage, with no set timeline for a public beta release, and will continue in beta when it officially launches later this fall.
