Linux Lite 7.0 Galena released: based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with Kernel 6.8 and Xfce 4.18

Linux Lite 7.0, codenamed "Galena," has been officially released. This new version is based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, also known as "Noble Numbat," and utilizes the Linux kernel 6.8 series. It maintains its lightweight design with the latest Xfce 4.18 desktop environment.

Key updates in this release include Google Chrome as the default web browser, VLC Media Player as the default media player, and LibreOffice as the default office suite. Mozilla Thunderbird, provided as a Snap package, serves as the default email and calendar client, while GIMP is the default image editor and viewer. The release also features an updated installer with new, more informative slides aimed at enhancing the installation experience, particularly for new users.

The artwork remains consistent with the Linux Lite 6 series and Secure Boot support is included, allowing users to install Linux Lite alongside Windows. It is important to note that existing Linux Lite 6.x installations cannot be upgraded to Linux Lite 7.0, and upgrades from the RC version to the final release are also not possible.
