Manjaro 24.0 “Wynsdey” released with GNOME 46 and KDE Plasma 6, based on Linux kernel 6.9

Manjaro, a popular Arch-based Linux distribution, has launched its 24.0 version, “Wynsdey”, built on the Linux kernel 6.9 series. The new release features multiple desktop environments, including GNOME 46, KDE Plasma 6, and Xfce 4.18.

The GNOME 46 desktop environment introduces a new global search feature, an enhanced remote desktop experience, reorganized settings, and numerous small improvements and polish changes. In the plasma version of Manjaro 24.0, KDE Plasma 6 and KDE Gear 24.02 offer Wayland by default and partial support for High Dynamic Range (HDR). An improved Settings app, an enhanced Plasma search, and the renowned cube effect are also included in this version.

The Xfce 4.18 desktop environment is another option in Manjaro 24.0. This version introduces a new file highlighting feature in Thunar, new panel preferences, and an upgraded control center. Additionally, the package manager Pamac has been ported to libalpm 6.1 and now supports the native download agents of libalpm, enhancing the download of build scripts from the Arch User Repository and the Manjaro binary repositories.
