DuckDuckGo launches Privacy Pro plan with VPN, personal data removal, and identity theft

DuckDuckGo has launched a new Privacy Pro plan priced at $9.99 monthly, offering three main security features: a no-log VPN that uses the WireGuard protocol, personal information deletion, and identity theft restoration services. This plan is comparable to services provided by Mozilla, and is available for an annual subscription of $99.99. Currently, the plan is only available to US users.

The security features are integrated within the DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser, removing the need for separate applications. The company guarantees privacy by not storing VPN logs, thereby leaving no records of website visits, DNS requests, IP addresses, or session durations. The VPN service uses secure servers in the US, Europe, and Canada, with future expansion plans.

DuckDuckGo users can locate and erase personal data held by data broker sites, preventing identity theft and spam. The information removal process is automated and routinely rechecked to minimize online data footprint. The Privacy Pro plan also provides identity theft protection services, aiding in account recovery and replacement of important documents.
