Open-source password manager Passbolt 4.5.0 released with Password Expiry feature and more
The latest release of Passbolt version 4.5.0 brings new features and improvements to enhance security, efficiency, and usability. The highlight of this update is the Password Expiry feature, allowing administrators to enforce automatic password rotation policies, which strengthens security by ensuring passwords are changed when individuals lose access to resources.
The software has extended its global reach by integrating Russian translation, increasing its international usability. Passbolt has also responded to user feedback by extending SMTP settings to support Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Outlook providers, thereby providing more integration possibilities.
The process of setting up the software has been simplified, with the section guiding users through the Windows desktop application installation and configuration now activated by default. Enhancements in key API endpoints, security improvements, and bug fixes result in a more secure and seamless user experience. For Pro users, advanced Password Expiry settings have been introduced, allowing administrators to set detailed password expiry policies. Pro users can also mark passwords as expired and modify expiry dates, providing more control over sensitive data management.
