Android's Gemini app now supports Voice Commands and Google Calendar interaction
The Android app from Google Gemini has been updated to include voice command access and interaction with Google Calendar events. This feature was initially missing from the app's launch, despite being a part of Google's original list of key functionalities.
With this update, users can now employ voice commands like "show me my calendar" or "do I have any upcoming calendar events". These commands were previously responded to with "Unfortunately, I don't have access to your calendar yet." Gemini uses Google Assistant to process these requests, displaying events inline and providing a shortcut to the full Calendar app.
Additionally, the new feature lets users add events to their calendar, either through voice command or manual entry. The command "add an event to my calendar" initiates this process. The calendar support is currently available to users in the US, though it may not be completely accessible to all.
