OpenAI enhances ChatGPT macOS app with expanded coding integration & voice control
OpenAI has rolled out major updates to its ChatGPT desktop app for macOS, significantly expanding its integration capabilities with a variety of coding applications. A notable addition is the "Work with Apps" button, which allows users to collaborate directly with a wide range of coding apps such as BBEdit, MATLAB, Nova, and several others including Android Studio and IntelliJ IDEA.
For those focused on writing, the app now supports integration with Notes, Quip, and Notion, offering a smoother experience for content creation. Additionally, the introduction of Advanced Voice Mode enables users to dictate commands or interact with ChatGPT via voice while using these integrated apps.
These updates are available for users with the latest version of the macOS desktop app, but require a subscription to Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, or Edu plans. OpenAI has also enhanced privacy controls, ensuring that ChatGPT only interacts with other apps when users actively enable the feature, with clear notifications about data sharing to maintain informed consent.
