Brave Search introduces AI Chat mode, allowing follow-up questions without new searches

Brave Search has unveiled a new chat mode within Brave Search, enhancing the previously introduced "Answer with AI" feature. This update allows users to engage with AI-generated summaries through a chat bar, facilitating follow-up questions without initiating a new search. Unlike Google’s AI Overviews, Brave’s chat mode supports ongoing conversations, streamlining the process of obtaining additional details.

For instance, a query about "Christopher Nolan films" not only provides an AI summary but also enables users to ask related questions, such as identifying frequently cast actors in his movies. Upon submitting a follow-up question, users enter a conversational interface where the AI delivers answers with cited sources, slightly reminiscent of Perplexity.

The chat mode is now available to all Brave Search users, with Brave prioritizing privacy by guaranteeing that queries are neither stored nor used for profiling.
