Joplin 2.12: Apple Silicon support, improved rich text editor, shared permissions and more
The new 2.12 version of Joplin introduces numerous features and improvements for both desktop and mobile platforms. For desktop, Joplin 2.12 now supports Apple Silicon architecture, enhancing performance for users with Apple Silicon devices. The Rich Text editor has been improved with support for plugin toolbar icons and better compatibility with text copied from Microsoft Word, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and LibreOffice. The update also brings better management of newlines and paragraphs, the ability to switch automatically between light and dark modes, and customizable read and write permissions for Joplin Cloud Pro and Teams users. The new "Email to Note" feature allows users to store emails in Joplin Cloud by forwarding them to their Joplin Cloud address, where they are organized as notes in the "Inbox" notebook.
Image resizing options have also been added, giving users the choice to always ask, always resize, or never resize large images added to their notes. Moreover, Joplin 2.12 introduces a rotating log feature for automatic handling of logs.
On mobile platforms, the Share Permissions update for Joplin Cloud now allows for customized permissions for note editing. The Email to Note feature is also available on mobile apps, converting emails into notes in Joplin Cloud. The mobile apps feature 23 bug fixes, enhancements, and security fixes in this release.
