Microsoft Paint has joined the Dark Side: The iconic drawing app from Microsoft has finally introduced a Dark Mode

Microsoft Paint, the iconic drawing application that made its debut in Windows 1.0 back in 1985, is finally receiving a much-anticipated update. After 37 long years, Microsoft has announced that Paint will now support dark mode on Windows 11. This long-awaited feature is expected to bring a visually pleasing experience to many loyal users and a few curious ones who prefer a darker interface.

For those eager to try out the new dark mode in Paint, a preview version is now available for testing by Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels (version 11.2304.17.0). This allows enthusiasts to provide feedback and help Microsoft refine the application before it is rolled out to all users later this year. Alongside dark mode, Paint is also receiving improvements in its zoom functionality, with finer granular increments through a new drop-down menu.

The original launch version of Windows 11 introduced significant updates to Paint, with promises of additional features such as a centered canvas. Although the centered canvas feature is still pending, users can rejoice as dark mode has finally made its appearance after two years (and quite much more than that, to be honest) of anticipation.

Of course, there are thousands of much more powerful and packed with complex and incredible features apps for advanced users that far surpass Paint, such as Paint.NET, Canva, Krita, the recent Microsoft Designer, or even a different version like Paint 3D, both from the same company. However, it is also undeniable that Paint remains an application used by millions of regular Windows users who do not want to deal with complex functions or cluttered tool interfaces, so it is always appreciated when features are added to this beloved app that has accompanied many of us for decades.
