Open source apps are known for bad/inintuitive design. If the apps works great and the UX is not terrible you might find it okay. Nice UI comes to personnal preference. So this list is only based on my taste of what is a good modern looking app.
While open source is great for privacy and security it is not perfect. So keep that in mind before downloading any apps. I again encourage you to do your own research about them and read their Privacy Policies.
I am not a privacy and security expert. I'm also don't consider myself as a developper so I do not have any technical knowledge and so I didn't look into any source code of any apps in this list !
The AdGuard iOS client is open source. So if you want to block ads and trackers on iOS this is the way !

This list needs a little update. (I live in france) Fluent reader is not free, splito is not available in my country. Geometric Weather and Thud seems to not exist on iOS, why it’s in the list ?

FluentReader is free as in freedom but the mobile version is indeed paid to support the devs ! Thud is available on iOS but not on the AppStore, neither TestFlight. Maybe it will benefit from third party app stores in the EU but for now you have to build it from source. I did removed Geometric Weather as it was a mistakes. Sorry about Splito! not available in France but I'll keep the app on the list for the others.
Why even use iOS to begin with if you care about open source.
I LOVE Bitwarden. You should also state that everyone should use a secure password manager instead of just relying on their computer's or browser's keychain/saved passwords. I've noticed those things can get cleared sometimes without knowing. Thanks for this list!
