UI = User Interface UX = User eXperience
Open source apps are known for bad/inintuitive design. If the apps works great and the UX is not terrible you might find it okay. But intuitive UI are better, and modern looking ones are pleasant to use, sadly they are not the majority. Here is my list of Beautiful Open Source Apps for your iPhone ! Apps are listed in alphabetical order !
Also look at : Beautiful Open Source Apps for Android for more open source apps for an https://alternativeto.net/software/android/about/ device.
DISCLAIMERS
Nice UI comes to personnal preference. So this list is only based on my taste of what is a good modern looking app.
While open source is great for privacy and security it is not perfect. So keep that in mind before downloading any apps. I again encourage you to do your own research about them and read their Privacy Policies.
I am not a privacy and security expert. I'm also don't consider myself as a developper so I do not have any technical knowledge and so I didn't look into any source code of any apps in this list !

Kyugo is nice but not Open Source. 😂
This list needs a little update. (I live in france) Fluent reader is not free, splito is not available in my country. Geometric Weather and Thud seems to not exist on iOS, why it’s in the list ?
I've updated the list a few time since your comment. Feel free to check the new apps added ! ^^ Sorry for the late reply, I simply forgot^^'
FluentReader is free as in freedom but the mobile version is indeed paid to support the devs ! Thud is available on iOS but not on the AppStore, neither TestFlight. Maybe it will benefit from third party app stores in the EU but for now you have to build it from source. I did removed Geometric Weather as it was a mistakes. Sorry about Splito! not available in France but I'll keep the app on the list for the others.
Why even use iOS to begin with if you care about open source.
I LOVE Bitwarden. You should also state that everyone should use a secure password manager instead of just relying on their computer's or browser's keychain/saved passwords. I've noticed those things can get cleared sometimes without knowing. Thanks for this list!
It is already stated 😉 But you made me realised that I din't put the message above Strongbox 🫡
Well, I meant add everything I stated after "should use a secure password manager" :-)
Handy News Reader is a great FOSS RSS/website reader for mobile.
Looks like it's Android only, this is an iOS list !
