PeerTube is a free, decentralized and federated video platform developed as an alternative to other platforms that centralize our data and attention, such as YouTube, Dailymotion or Vimeo. But one organization hosting PeerTube alone may not have enough money to pay for bandwidth...
PeerTube vs YouTube opinions
Peertube gives you more control and more privacy and allows you to control your own videos if you want to or use a public instance.
Out of the decentralized, open source alternatives to YouTube, this one is probably the best. It's being developed by Framasoft who consistently does amazing things
It does not have very many videos on it at all! I searched Minecraft and multiple other subjects and came up empty!
I think It doesn't have ads!
Bringing power back to the people. PeerTubw ftw!
Decentralized video-streaming, not exactly like youtube, as you have to find the content creators instances on your own, but definitely a good alternative.
PeerTube is the open-source technology that links together independent instances on which people freely host and post videos. Find an instance that suits you or create your own, and join the federated PeerTube community !
Vimeo is the best way to get your videos online in the highest quality with great tools to share publicly or privately.
Vimeo vs YouTube opinions
High quality videos often focused on creative areas.
Vimeo was the first site to offer full HD online video, they have some interesting monetisation features and a clean interface. What's best though it's that the vimeo community is overwhelmingly creators and people who know what they're doing, so you won't find many cat videos or talentless basement dwellers filling up the site.
Different business model entirely, not enough of the same content.
YouTube is the best video platform. I use it every day and I love it.
I dont like vimeo because its not similar enogh
it has a good interface and it's pretty popular
Only if we talk about YT as video hosting for companies or frellancers, then Vimeo is a great one!
BitChute is a peer to peer video sharing platform. Its mission is to put people and free speech first. It's free to join and create and upload your own videos to share with others.
BitChute vs YouTube opinions
Very fast, peer-to-peer tech similar based on BitTorrent. No censorship. Growing community.
Great concept, focused on procecting everyone's freedom.
Bitchute looked like an alternative to YouTube, but as we saw in the past two years; they are just as censorship-happy.
They are also independent from large megacorporations like Google, also unlike YouTube.
Also available through Bitslide for your phone.
Many disgruntled YouTubers are moving their content to BitChute, and it has been massively gaining in popularity over recent years. No censorship make it an attractive alternative to all other video hosting platforms.
BitChute allows free speech and does not partake in shady business practices and promotion like YouTube does. They are also independent from large megacorporations like Google, also unlike YouTube.
Invidious is an alternative front-end to YouTube.
Invidious vs YouTube opinions
You can watch videos from youtube without giving away your soul and personal data, or being bombarded with ads. It just works ??
open source, ad-free, privacy, tor
Much like NewPipe, you use this to avoid having to use YT to watch its content. You can also easily download the videos using any of the invidious instances, which is nice. If you're a content creator, though, it offers nothing.
fast it don't ask email in registration, just name and password
Just ried it a few times so the jury is still out
Same content - ads and general slowness + one-click reddit comment section + one-click dark mode. Best alternative front-end to the same back-end service.
Dailymotion is a video sharing service website, headquartered in the 18th arrondissement, Paris, France.
Dailymotion vs YouTube opinions
DailyMotion offers nice options to manage and monetise your videos. And it's not linked to Google, which is a good point on my opinion.
Daily motion is a good alternative for YouTube if one wishes to earn ad revenue from their videos, but it's not as good of an alternative for building a community since it has no comment sections or any other means of contact between viewers and creators.
Dailymotion doesn't have the comments section on a video as Youtube and removed the livestream option.
Plenty of content not found on Youtube. More lax terms of service than Youtube.
slow uploads and keeps crashing. it sucks.
It used to be a free video hosting service for everybody, but it doesn't is anymore. Now it is for newspaper, professionnal...
Sometimes i found vids here which i dont find at youtube
This site mimics old YouTube and has the 2008 header and 2009 looking pages. This fixes many problems YouTube has, like lack of customization and community issues. Share your videos around the world. Display Yourself.
Previously known as VidBit.
VidLii vs YouTube opinions
The fact that it has the similar old youtube 2006 layout and is much more simple in the navigation. It also has the 5 star rating system which we all loved.
Because out of all the other websites it imitates the feel of YouTube the best.
Recently, Vidlii was acquired by a neo-nazi, Kuznetsov.
Vidlii has a great and active community, despite it having a relatively small user base. Getting in contact with staff is not difficult and they even have a partner program.
I tried out VidLii before and i like this website the website is just like the old youtube but better i did not make an account or make any videos on the website but i did watch some videos there
It has old channel layouts star ratings a partner program video contests
- Developer API is open and requires neither license nor API keys
- Any video has the same quality
- Themes are free and you could upload them by yourself
DTube vs YouTube opinions
Love it looks like youtube but its not. And I didn't know it was completly decentralized and open source! What a bonus!
d.tube is youtube but without centralization and with crypto exchanged as views IIRC. It has the best interface of any youtube competitor and seems to have a business model that will payoff.
No censors, so you can listen to mrbeast swear all the time!
Censor free, easy to use, and fun. Would recommend.
Sadly, because of the sharing model, the video size limit on DTube is 1GB, which is not really enough for good quality gameplays, so it's not a good alternative for gamers.
D.Tube makes monetization easy and fair
Launch your own channel | Watch and share videos.
Odysee vs YouTube opinions
Odysee is an amazing alternative to YouTube
Its built on the LBRY protocol, making it censorship resistant
It sucks, but man is it way better than Youtube.
At this point in time odysee seems to be the most attractive alternative for youtube. Many content creator (especially those who value freedom) switch every day.
Have most of the features
Odysee is in my opinion the best alternative to YouTube. It has most of the features YouTube has including livestreaming. Users can earn money through LBRY credits by getting donations on uploads or by completing challenges. I highly recommend.
