For a text editor with .rtf/images, OnlyOffice seems to make a good substitute. My current favorite is HS Writer. When Wordpad is discontinued, it may mess up functionality of a number of word processor type programs that rely on it's engine.. though there are a number of programs do not rely on it.

Its proprietary software, but it loads fast, isn't full of glitches like Abi, and minimalistic. It's a great, uncluttered app for .rtf/.doc.
Too bad they are removing support for it.

Me neither before.. cold and yucky, but now I find myself wanting to do .rtf and reconsidered.
