Comments about Shotcut as a Alternative to Windows Movie Maker
Movie maker is a much more simplified product and allows easy recording of narration and much easier timeline editing. While this would work for some scenarios it cannot be used to the same extent as Windows Movie Maker.
6Movie maker was brilliant at taking film stills and stop motion frames in and outputting a video. SHotcuts "says" it does this, even on the forum - "tick the properties box and it will import the rest of your folder of stills..." It fails every time. Out of 45 frames, it only ever imports 5 maximum whereas Moviemaker just did the job.
2It's free and more complete than movie maker
0It can actually do everything Movie Maker does. The problem is the UI is not very intuitive and you need to watch a Youtube tutorial and take notes so you don't forget it. But once you figure it out the workflow is really fast. It also works with all sorts of formats including MP4.
