WheelClick

Middle click for the Mac trackpad: three-finger click or tap, free forever, plus fn+click, Force Click, middle-drag for CAD, autoscroll and per-app rules as a one-time purchase, from the maintainer of MiddleClick.

The whole app is a menu bar menu: four middle-click gestures, each with a measured energy dot.

What is WheelClick?

Your Mac has no middle button. WheelClick adds one: press or tap the trackpad with three fingers, hold fn and click with any mouse, or Force Click. It works system-wide: links open in new tabs, tabs close, and 3D and CAD apps pan and orbit.

Three-finger click and tap are free permanently, no account needed. A one-time purchase, after a 14-day trial, unlocks fn+click, Force Click, Magic Mouse gestures, per-app allow and ignore lists, and three opt-in plugins: Middle-Drag for panning and orbiting in any app that uses the middle button (Blender, Fusion, Unity and the rest), system-wide autoscroll, and three-finger swipes for volume and brightness.

WheelClick is the successor to MiddleClick, the free GPL-3.0 app its developer maintained from 2019. It is a separate closed-source codebase rebuilt from the ground up, not a renamed build: MiddleClick never had fn+click, Force Click, Middle-Drag, autoscroll or swipes, and it stays free and unchanged on its own repository.

The whole app is one menu bar menu. It re-arms its event taps when macOS silently disables them, works alongside Three Finger Drag, and shows each gesture's measured energy cost beside its row. Requires macOS 13 or later. On the Mac App Store, as a notarized download and through Homebrew; Magic Mouse gestures are direct-download only, a limit of the App Store sandbox.
