What is VectorBee?

VectorBee is a genetic engineering software platform by VectorBuilder for viewing, editing, and analyzing DNA and protein sequences. It was created by a team of biologists and IT engineers under Chief Scientist, Professor Bruce Lahn. The software is free and supports the research community.

VectorBee offers features for manipulating and understanding DNA sequences. Users can customize how they view and annotate their DNA, focusing on viral and non-viral vectors. The software integrates with VectorBuilder, allowing users to import vectors from VectorBuilder's database or their own account. Users can also order services like cloning, plasmid prep, and virus packaging.

The software includes tools for sequence analysis. Users can select from nearly 700 enzymes to view and simulate restriction digestion of vectors, translate their DNA in all frames, and automatically detect open reading frames (ORFs). It simplifies primer design, allowing users to select a region of interest and product size, adjust primer characteristics, and receive candidate primers. Other features include alignment tools, visualization of GC content and CpG islands, import of NCBI genes, and a project dashboard for managing multiple sequence projects.
