This software is infamous for bundling advertisements, adware, and even a crypto miner at one point. Many users have moved to alternative software like qBittorrent. Those that stay use old, outdated versions that may have security holes and issues making your system vulnerable to malware.

I was using utorrent until now because it was stable and offered ways to get rid of the advertising.

Yet in 2024 is barely updated if at all(you have to look at its forum) and the forum itself is filled with spam with zero moderation.

Seems is going to become abandonware. I'll have to ditch it because an unsupported app that reaches the network is going to be a huge security risk sooner or later.

I have to downgrade this program. It no longer offer updates for standalone free ( ad-supported ) version. I imagine it will still be usable for a long time, but no more security updates for my version.

THIS IS SPYWARE, DON'T USE.

An old proprietary piece of trash on your computer. It installs adware, promotes scam ads, spying you. I just don't get it, why people still using utorrent? Yes, someone talked about using an old version of the program - but this is a completely wrong and useless decision. You are risking your safety by downloading outdated programs. Just replace it with qbittorrent or any other open source alternative at last!
