TinyWall is a free software to harden and control the advanced firewall built into Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. TinyWall includes a combination of features that sets it apart from both commercial and freeware firewalls: TinyWall does not annoy you with popups at all, yet it is still extremely easy to add exceptions to your firewall rules; TinyWall does not require you to know about ports, protocols and application details; TinyWall prevents malicious programs from modifying the settings of Windows Firewall.

So, is it discontinued?..
TinyWall works on Windows 10, but now my choice is simplewall.
Does simplewall work the same as TinyWall? As I understand (haven't installed one yet), TinyWall doesn't install any extra services in your system, but rather provides a simpler UI to handle Window's built-in firewall. Does simplewall install any extra processes?

FAQ :
_The simplewall is implemented through WFP (Windows Filtering Platform) at user-mode level (no drivers etc.). _
MSDN (en.)
... _simplewall installs and configure his own WFP (Windows Filtering Platform) provider, it means that simplewall does not change any of Windows Firewall configuration _...
Black list by default, but Simplewall also ask what to do (via pop-up).

I've been using TinyWall for close to four months now and never have I had an error or problem with it. It simply does what it's made for. Since I switched to Windows from Linux (unfortunate but necessary) I searched far and wide for a good alternative to Gufw and TinyWall is just that (with a few excellent other functions also packed in). One of those extra functions is the Whitelist by window option which is great if you just want to allow an application through the firewall with a simple click on it's UI. It's a five star in my books. And I found it on AlternativeTo of course!
After 15 years of using COMODO, I switched to TinyWall - this is the best firewall add-on for the native Windows 10 firewall.
After using this program I noticed all my custom rules were deleted.
Beware before using it to back up your Firewall settings and rules or you'll regret ever trying it. Overall it's not a very useful application. Sure, it has a compact interface but it has no flexibility at all. You could say it's a free app and that's all it is.
This is exactly what I was looking for, a tinny, simple, free yet effective firewall.
