Unlike FAB and similar UIs for the built-in firewall, this one can remove missing programs all at once. It has a separate window to control services. Uses the white list principle. Learns. Has both the black and white list modes. It installs a service.

To me the perfect (and only real) simplewall-alternative. To be precise: The best (FOSS) Firewall there is.

Kodi, with v3.14.13 you can tick off the 1) and 3) of Cons.

Wow! Finally found a gem of a firewall! It's like TinyWall & SimpleWall had a baby, and some.

It's easy to use, nice UI, no intensives popups.

The must have function is wild cards.... God it's good to finally stop receiving demands to allow/block for an app because the path changes for each version (C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\v.32.2.2_qsdkfjhqldkfhoqg\Microsoft.SharePoint.exe becomes C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive*\Microsoft.SharePoint.exe).

Great work devs! Gotta send you some money for coffee/beer.

The only open source firewall that supports path wildcards.

While this increases the potential security risks is also the only option if you install it for people with no IT knowledge.

So it was either this or no firewall at all for the person i installed to.

It has a lot of features and it is constantly updated and improved.

Just wish it had a way to handle grouping applications together.

For example you have: 1)C:\MyApp\Update.exe 2)C:\MyApp2\DoStuff.exe 3)C:\MyApp3\DoOtherStuff.exe

I would like to create 2 groups that can be manually allowed/blocked 1 group to be with 1) and 3) and another group to be with 1) and 2)

Currently the only way i found to group it like this was with wildcards which is not ideal.

Apart from that it's perfect for what i needed.

Thanks for feedback!

Can you please create an Issue or Discussion on GitHub for the apps grouping problem and elaborate why you need it?

Handle "Svchost.exe" not as whole but treat it per service. Not so common feature despite being a game changer

EDIT: since a recent release, it feature a popup window Nearly perfect UI now

Fort is the ONLY replacement I've found for SimpleWall to be:

  1. Simple.
  2. Easy to use.
  3. Feature Rich while not being bloated.
  4. Open source.
  5. Handle UWP apps properly. On top of these 5 main reason, Fort is also very flexible you can tweak this program from head to the toes.

I would rather use this software than simplewall. Its tutorials are more detailed and its functions are comprehensive.
