Out of all the mainstream social media, TikTok is probably the most fun. The algorithm used to be better at figuring out what you like, but it is still pretty good. Downsides: it will collect every data point about you and use it for targeted advertising. At least ads are all easy to skip.

Has one of the worst moderation ever
This is known as Dou Yin in China.
Screws with your attention span, promotes chinese, russian and anti-western propaganda, might arbitrarily prevent users from following new accounts (you click the "follow" button, it switches to the following state, but after refreshing the page the subscription disappears).
And just don't install their spyware app, use the web version if you have to.
TikTok is quite easy to operate, so anybody can use it without getting too confused.
