Comments and Reviews
After using tiki trackers for several years now, I love the highly integrated way in which they interact with the rest of Tiki (wiki content management system). With so many features built into Tiki, it is easy to create a database and then DO SOMETHING with that information. With built-in permissions, data can be restricted in a hierarchy to allow editing or viewing to just the right parties. While information and text fields can use wiki syntax for easy editing of information. Trackers also integrate well with files, so one can organize documents and images as well.
So in conclusion, although Microsoft Office and LibreOffice are alternatives to Tiki Trackers in that they are all a database, after entering data into one of these alternatives, the information contained is often much more difficult to do something practical with. At least when compared to an approach like Tiki Trackers.
I hope that helps others understand the 'Tiki approach' a little better.
Tiki Trackers permits to build database web apps quickly without any coding. The application can start simply with a few data fields, forms and reports, and then evolve with user needs. Also, there are many automation capabilities (ex.: daily email reports, etc.). It's a dream tool for a power user and can replace pretty much everything that is historically being tracked in a spreadsheet in a typical organization.
Tiki Trackers are one of the most powerful Tiki features.
I love them because they let me create highly elaborate forms or series of forms.
My customers love them because they can always view/display/export/edit/analyse their data.
Very powerful, future-proof, evolving tool!
