We use TextExpander at work with 100+ people sharing 5000+ snippets. The amount of time saved per month is incredible. It's absolutely worth the investment - while I'm a bit of a poweruser (I manage the snippets and onboarding with it), our lowest users save 5 hours of typing a month and our top users save 40 hours per month.
Work wouldn't be the same without it.
It's a key logger... which I understood, that's how it achieves the functionality, ok.. but then I started getting emails from them with "Looks like you haven't been using TextExpander much this month." WHAT!? They track and monitor your usage... it's a key logger.
it's really slow
TextExpander is perfect for startups. I love having a directory of polished responses that I can quickly deploy. Using TexExpander has allowed me to move quickly, and still be polished and thoughtful.
It works when it feels like and apparently Chrome frequently requests some sort of secure mode that locks TextExpander out until you quit Chrome.
In general I've just a less than satisfactory experience with it. Your mileage may vary.
I use this for common typo correction, different email signatures, template'ed emails, common strings of text I type...on and on and on. Highly recommended.
