I don't like the fact that they're selling their platform on the virtues of it being a "democratic cooperative" while they seeked venture capital only to instantly reward both its founders with a 145k$ annual salary. Do note i'm not an artist though, and have not been using the platform.

What is Subvert?
Subvert is a cooperative-owned music marketplace. Artists and labels sell digital music directly to listeners. Listeners buy and own what they pay for. The platform itself is owned by the people who use it.
We are a co-op of more than 20,000 artists, labels, and supporters. Our members elect the board. Our workers are members too.
We think creative communities deserve to own the infrastructure they depend on.
Subvert is the start of a long-term project. We are building a cooperative-owned music marketplace today, with the larger ambition of becoming a Mondragón of Music: a constellation of community-owned ventures that form the foundation of an alternative economy owned by artists and workers.
