What is Stretchly?
stretchly is cross-platform open source app that reminds you to take breaks when working with computer.
By default, it runs in your tray and shows reminder window every 10 minutes, that is open for 20 seconds, containing idea for microbreak.
Every 30 minutes, it shows window containing idea for longer 5 minute break.
You can pause/resume reminding of breaks. On Windows and macOS, you can set app to start at login.
You can also skip to the next break or microbreak anytime from menu, or reset (restart) breaks.
Microbreaks and breaks can be customized:
- you can set duration and interval of break
- you can enable/disable breaks
- you can enable/disable strict mode (breaks can't be finished early)
- you can choose from different color schemes
- you can pick a sound to be played at the end of the break
All settings can be reset to defaults.

Comments and Reviews
It helps me to avoid long-time sitting
Looks very nice, but I prefer to be able to label the break text.
If you are looking for a very light weight application that does all the basic requirements, you might want to try our product. It offers micro breaks, breaks, sound and visual reminder and stretch suggestions all in a minimalistic appearance.
It's so simple and does exactly what I want - force me to take a break. I found that I have to use strict mode, but others will appreciate the option to not use it.
I also like that if I'm in the middle of typing I can still type although I can barely see - this allows me to not stop in the middle of a thought, and also not have to dismiss the break.
I wish there was a phone version!
Stretchly is an awesome app and most of the things are easily configurable. The settings area is very clean and intuitive. It automatically adapts to the system's appearance (dark/light mode).
stretchly is free and open source, and also lets you fairly easily customise the messages that come up in breaks, to target particular stretches etc that are helpful for you
It's the only one I like and managed to keep for several months now.
