What is SonicRoute?

SonicRoute is a free, open-source audio control utility for Windows 10 and Windows 11. It runs in the system tray and provides quick access to the volume, mute state, and input and output devices of individual applications.

Route a game, browser, music player or voice chat application to different audio devices, switch all running applications together, or change the system default device. Global hotkeys and mouse-wheel controls over the taskbar let you adjust audio without leaving the active application.

Key features:

  • Per-application audio routing, volume and mute controls.
  • Compact and classic tray mixer panels with real-time audio activity meters.
  • Customizable global hotkeys, mouse shortcuts and volume increments.
  • Quick output and input device switching and global microphone mute.
  • Customizable on-screen feedback for volume, device changes and microphone status.
  • Automation rules triggered by application launch, focus changes, exit, hotkeys, schedules or SonicRoute startup, with multiple actions and support for programs and scripts.
  • Command-line execution of automation rules for integration with other tools.
  • Light and dark themes, accent colors, device filtering and custom device names.
  • Nine built-in interface languages, with language import and export.

SonicRoute is available from GitHub Releases and the Microsoft Store. Portable releases and a .NET Framework compatibility build are available. It is licensed under the MIT License.
