What is Solid Takeoff?

Solid Takeoff is browser-based construction takeoff software for contractors, estimators, quantity surveyors and trades. Upload a PDF drawing, set the scale, measure linear runs, areas and counts, organise quantities into conditions with waste factors, add markups, and export annotated PDF or CSV files. It runs in a modern browser, with no Windows installation or virtual machine.

Scale can be set from common ratio presets or by tracing a known dimension, with per-page scales for mixed sheet sets and assisted scale detection that reads scale bars, dimensions or title blocks to propose a value. Volumes are produced when a depth or thickness is entered manually against a traced measurement. Markup tools include text, arrows, freehand pen, text boxes and leader callouts. Exports cover annotated PDFs with an automatic quantity summary page, plus CSV for spreadsheets and estimating software.

The free plan does not expire and includes every measurement and markup tool, two active projects, 250 MB of storage and one user; free exports carry a small SolidTakeoff.com footer. Solo and Team plans add clean exports, unlimited projects, more storage and full version history, and Team adds real-time multi-user collaboration with shared projects and role-based permissions.

Solid Takeoff is a focused 2D PDF takeoff and markup tool. It does not perform DWG/DXF or BIM measurement, does not price labour or materials, and does not produce full cost estimates or proposals.
